The re-birth of the Grammy-nominated Rainforest Band:
WHERE: At the Ann Arbor Green Fair on June 12th
The concept behind the Rainforest Band (which was formed by keyboardist Merl Saunders, Muruga and Jerry Garcia for the recording of the Grammy-nominated album, “Blues From The Rainforest) is to be a voice for Spirit and Mother Nature’s cosmos, bringing attention to our Rainforests which are being destroyed at an alarming rate. The Rain Forest Band is not only a voice for what is needed to become more green minded today, but also to bring the spirit of joy and dance to the listener and to have a wonderful festive party.
The only surviving performers that were on the Rainforest album include Muruga, Shakti, and Bill Thompson (keyboards). Tony Saunders (Merle's son) and Michael Hinton (guitar) were members of the Rainforest Band that toured and recorded extensively in the 1990’s.
